Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker is one of the best writers in America.  He has a short, fascinating piece on "Bill vs. Barack," here.

Talking Points on Presidential Debates
April 26, 2008
  • Senator Obama and Senator Clinton have now participated in 21 nationally televised debates, the most in primary history, including four exclusively with Senator Clinton.
  • And remember, Senator Clinton did not agree to an earlier invitation that had been accepted to debate in North Carolina
  • Over the next 10 days, Senator Obama believes it's important to talk directly to the voters of Indiana and North Carolina about fixing our economy, cutting the cost of health care and ending a war in Iraq that ... Read More »

About fifty (50) very prominent Edwards backers threw their full support behind Barack Obama today.  The large group includes many well known political figures, including Edwards' former national campaign manager Ed Turlington.  The NYT has the full story here.

From NBC's brilliant Chuck Todd:

"Financially, the Clinton camp is living dollar in, dollar out (while the debt piles up). This could mean the significance of Pennsylvania won't fully be known until after May 6. Why? Because if Obama sweeps Indiana and North Carolina, one of the reasons will be his financial advantage. In fact, there's a chance that what Obama did to Clinton in Pennsylvania is akin to what Reagan did to the Soviet Union in the 1980s -- He dragged her into a spending war she couldn't keep up with."

Tonight, Hillary Clinton lost her last, best chance to make significant inroads in the pledged delegate count.

The only surprising result from Pennsylvania is that in a state considered tailor-made for Hillary Clinton that she was expected to win, Barack Obama was able to improve his standing among key voter groups since the Ohio primary.   For example, among white voters, Obama narrowed the gap with Clinton by six points. Talking on Points on the Pennsylvania Results
April 23, 2008
  • Last night, Hillary Clinton lost her last, best chance to make significant inroads in the pledged delegate count.
  • The only surprising result from Pennsylvania is that Barack Obama was able to improve his standing among key voter groups since the Ohio primary.

  • For example, among white voters, Obama narrowed the gap by six points. Among voters over 60, he nearly cut the gap in half, from 41 points to 24 points.

  • Pennsylvania was considered a state tailor-made for Hillary Clinton, and all along she was expected to win. She has family roots in the state, which borders her own; she had the support of the Democratic establishment—including Governor Rendell’s extensive network—and former P ... Read More »

Remarks of Senator Barack Obama
Primary Night
Evansville, Indiana
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

I want to start by congratulating Senator Clinton on her victory tonight, and I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians who stood with our campaign today.

There were a lot of folks who didn’t think we could make this a close race when it started.  But we worked hard, and we traveled across the state to big cities and smalltowns, to factory floors and VFW halls.  And now, six weeks later, we closed the gap.  We rallied people of every age and race and background to our cause.  And whether they were inspired for the first time or for the first time in a long time, we registered a record number of voters who will lead our party to victory in November.
